On taking delivery of our new yacht at Poole in Dorset in June 2005, we set off in changeable weather conditions for the run home to Largs via Arklow and the east coast of Ireland and were immediately impressed by the Malo. The superior stability, safe deep cockpit and excellent weather protection of the large windscreen provided a comfort and feeling of safety. The generous accommodation also suited the pair of us.Over the years we have explored many remote and safe anchorages in the west of Scotland, away from the bustle of harbours and marinas helped in no small way by the occasional use of the electric generator providing power for water heater, electrical appliances including hair dryer, and more importantly giving the service batteries a kick through the Adverk control system. We have now reached the point of having to concede to old age and therefore must pass our lovely yacht on to another sailor.MANUFACTURER HISTORY:Johannes Olsson started the company 1939, building wooden yachts. Johannes’ sons, Bo and Orvar Olsson took over the business in 1963 and built their first GRP Malö Yachts in 1969.
